I'm also not sure why we have a ranking system. Most voting systems are if you vote for the one you think is best, one vote.

You then tabulate according to the number of votes and get your ranking that way. This system does seem cumbersome.

Ranking gives every entrant an idea of how they placed in the Fest and what everyone thought of their script. Regardless of placement.

Pretty valuable information really.
