    Anyone else get faulty cameras?

I just got my 7D from TigerDirect. Right off the bat, there's a damaged pixel, showing up as a red dot in my video footage. That's an obvious bust. But I also notices that when recording, there's a motorized grinding noise coming from the camera. The noise is blaring when I play the footage back. Is that common, or another technical problem? In any case, I'm shipping the camera off to Canon tomorrow for a full repair. Such a letdown, especially after waiting two months for the damn thing. At least the $255 Bing cashback was honored.

I had the red pixel issue, returned it and my second camera is fine.

I'd return mine for a brand new one but TigerDirect won't take returns. So in a sense, I'll be getting a refurbished camera. Grr...

dead pixels are pretty normal. I dont think I've had a DSLR yet without at least one visible at some point.

They won't take returns on broken cameras? I'd never buy anything from TigerDirect then. Thanks for the tip

go into the menu and do manual sensor cleaning first, if that doesn't fix then exchange it, the noise you hear is from the IS, turn it off and see if you still hear it.

My 7D came today, only done low light tests. I too have a red dot on my sensor. (close to the center of the image)
Damn this sucks, It's visible on both stills and footage.
I'm pretty screwed if I can't fix this, 'cause I ordered it from the USA and I live in South Africa - Paid $150 for UPS shipping. (yeah, shipping, tax, & duties - Broke my balls)

It doesn't show up all the time, depends on light (I think) - Have to do more tests, but it looks like it's there at all ISOs.
I'm stressing about this big time.
    I'll post some images later.

Woah what's up with that? And TigerDirect won't take back a broken camera? That doesn't seem too right....

I kinda doubt that if it was damaged out of the box. At the very least you're well under your Canon warranty...
