So I know I'm starting the thread kind of late, but we've been busy on several projects in the pre and production stages. This will be my first short with a HVX, and it has been going well so far. Our first night of production was a mess at first, but once we got through all of the technical issues like the tripod and jib arm not working together, and the power inverters blowing fuses.

Tonight we shot three more scenes, one of which has to be completely reshot because silly me didn't notice that I rolled the iris way too low. Other than that the scene came out well. I did a rough cut in APP CS3, but the true edit will be on FCP.

10/27/09 - So it's all shot. I'm cutting, but I ran into a bit of a problem. Now I have to edit in APP CS3, that's not exactly the problem. We shot on an HVX with the P2 cards. Apparently, to transfer them in to FCP you have to use third party software which muxes the files and changes them from an MXF to an MOV. This is all fine and dandy too, except for the fact that this MOV has a proprietary codec in which my APP and even my Quicktime Pro on my PC cannot read. "Why don't you use the raw MXF's from the P2 cards? " you ask. Well, if they had been put on my external like I had asked instead of deleted after they were transferred, I absolutely would. So if anyone knows where I can get this codec, please drop me a line, I would love to here from you ASAP. I have one of seven scenes cut, and since I haven't been able to do much else, I even built my opening title sequence just for kicks. I know I can get this sucker cut in time if I can get the codec installed by Wednesday night.

This isn't the exact aspect ratio of the short, and none of the images have been colored yet, this is but a taste of whats to come.
