I know you can't draw any real conclusions about the moire from a vimeo download, but the crazy color thing that the 5D does with patterns seems to be much more acceptable on the 7D. The picture was taken from a test that Philip Bloom did.

I was thinking the same thing about the chroma artifacts. More tests necessary. Zone plate chart would be great, should anyone happen to have one hanging around.

Philip said specifically not to judge anything like that based off the test. He takes no responsibility for what Vimeo may have done to the image.
And I've got a magnificent chart, a fancy new DSC Labs MegaTrumpet 12, just waiting for a 7D to put it to the test...

Just looking at the download footage and on Vimeo, the 5D has more aliasing and moire artifacts, look at the diagonal edge of the glass of the candle cup, there is more aliasing there with the 5d, look at the bottom of the blinds where they were all very close to each other, there are much more moire pattern there on the 5D, for sure there are much more noise on the 7D, not scientific but so far that is what I see.

My decision to purchase a 7d will be largely based on Barry Green's evaluation. Not to put pressure or anything.
