What Beachteks (or audio devices) are you using for sound on the GH1 and D90? I have the DXA-2S.

Direct into the cam or separate audio setup included?

H4N does the trick for me. I use the in-camera audio as a reference track for sync. Throw in PluralEyes and it's pretty painless.

I've been thinking of the H4n just for the portability factor however, I'll be doing a shoot in a couple of months with current audio setup of Sanken/Rode mics - Grace Designs Lunatec V3 preamp - Fostex FR2. It's for a 25 minute short so we'll be only using in cam audio for sync...reminds me...I need a clapper board

Do you usually use pluraleyes on your edited sequence or on all raw footage? I'm trying to figure out it's capabilities before I get it.

Also do you have to label stuff at all or put it in order or anything?

It depends on the size of the edit, usually. For smaller stuff, if the camera audio is okay, I just wait until I'm done and then sync the good sound. For narrative things where I'd really like to judge the nuances of a performance etc., then I find it's best to sync all the rushes and then start editing.

You don't have to label or put things in order, but there is an option for you to tell the program that your clips are sequential which can speed up the process of syncing everything.

If you're interested in how it works, try out the demo, it pretty much allows you to use the program free of charge for a few days (you can save your sequences and everything).

    Will do.

I am now using the Rode Videomic for my on camera audio, which on most of my shoots for school, will be synced to the sound from a guy with a boom mic and a marantz. I actually prefer dual system for this anyway because you don't have to tie the camera down with a cable, regardless of auto gain control.

I'm using the Rode Stereo Videomic, and I have to say, the in-camera sound isn't completely objectionable to me. I just spent a week shooting on fishing boats in the ocean, and the sound the GH1 captured is totally usable. Now, I certainly wouldn't use it in any interview situation, or in more controlled environments, but I don't believe the on-board audio is as bad as people seem to think, or at least it isn't for my needs.

That said, my Zoom H4n should be arriving today via FedEx.
