So I was playing back my raw footage from a shoot on a crappy JVC cam, and had it on rev until it reached the beginning. It got a tape jam error. I poped open the door and bunch of tape reel was hanging out. I manually rewound the reel back into its spool. But did I do real damage to the material? Is this common?

i think the tapes probly alright. you might have a few bad frames though.

thanks... but what causes this sort of mishap? is it player dependent? I'm scared to play my other tape in this JVC now.
