Here is the first official release date for the 7D

I went to best buy in order to pre-order the 7D, as they are the only retailer, or we distributor able to provide a specific delivery date. If you go the website it said that I could have it at my house (with express shipping selected) no later than Oct. 15., and since I am a reward zone member and had an extra 12% off coupon sitting around I figured I'd just order it in the store and save myself $228, as I couldn't use the coupon over the phone nor on bestbuy.com.

After going to my local BB store I was told that they couldn't apply the discount to the order, ut what they could do AND THIS IS WHERE THE GOOD PART COMES IN is check on the computer, see when they were going to get it as a company, which we did and it said Oct. 11, and they would have me come there that day and pay for it in the store, and it would get to me around the same time, but I could use my coupon that way.

I then explained that the coupon would be expired by then, as today was the last day to use it, at which he (the manager) told me that he would honor it when I came to pick it up.

So ther you have it. Oct. 11 is the day that BestBuy will have it in their warehouse, (the main one) which leads me to believe that the main release date of the 7D is the week of October 5th.

This could still be all speculation. When I worked for a camera chain, Stores would get new cameras by certain zones depending on immediate saleability, so this could vary slightly from BB to BB. Also doesn't say anything about online retailers.

Good to hear a date though, although it's kind of funny their expected out of stock date is 2 years away...Everyone not on preorder pray that BB gets a camera supply that will last 730 days

I'm pretty sure that means the life at which they intend on carrying that item. But from what he told me, as well as from what I got from the bestbuy.com rep, who I also spoke with at that time was that that particular inventory means the company as a whole, and not an individual region or store. That is why I felt it was a big deal, and warranted documentation.

But I'm gonna have faith, and pray that this is in fact the correct date, and not wait for other retailers to email me when they have stock.

Well that's very good news then. I didn't know if it'd be like what I experienced running a chain store or what. At least bestbuy orderers know the date!

I hope they are being conservative. Very conservative.
