They are roughly the same price, and I just got a f/1.8 fd for 25bux off ebay as well. I only ask because I'm still a noob at this, to me they both seem to be exactly the same just look different.

I'm using the one by ceicio7, it has worked ok with the 8-10 FD lenses that I tried it with
some where easier to lock on some required a bit of gentle twisting till I got the knack. The infinity focus is a little before the infinity focus mark.

Ok dokie. I bought the same one.

I got a canon 50mm 1.8 lens from a pawn shop for 10bucks. I went to several shops and looked at about 6 of the same exact lens, and one f/1.4. On ALL of them, turning the aperture ring did not effect the diaphragm. So got one of them anyway, and then took it apart and removed the diaphram! ha!

Well see how it works when I get my adapter and the other 50mm lens that maybe has a working diaphragm.

In most cases the aperture ring works when the lens is attached. Probably all of those lenses were ok. If you can, return and get the 1.4
I owned the canon FD 50/1.8 for a while but I didn't like the quality my 1.4 is a lot better.

If you are interested in the 50mm focal length I did some tests with a Canon FD 50/1.4 and FD 50/1.2 as well as a Nikon AIS 50/1.4 and a Nikon AIS 50/1.2

I posted results in this thread

I don't understand how the ring can work when attached. I attached them all to cameras in the pawn store and still none changed. When I looked at a few other lenses like some fd mount macros the diaphram changed as expected.

It varies from lens to lens. For example my FD 50/1.4 needs to be attached to my ceicio7 adapter before the iris ring controls the aperture. My FD 24/1.4 doesn't.

Can you describe what is happening when the lens is attached? Or give me a link to alleviate my ignorance. I can push the one lever and that does nothing, and there is another lever like thing that is unmovable, seems like to me something could be sticking in one of the slots there to enable something but I can't see that on the adapter image.

I'll keep this 1.8, and I have another 1.8 on the way, total cost for both is 35$ so no big deal, if they are slightly wack maybe ill be able to pull something arty out it it.

I'll go back to that one store and get the 1.4, its got 's.s.c.' , (also seemed to have stuck diaphram) I think the price was marked at $38 so I'll start my offer at maybe $15-20. ;P

I ordered from cecio7 on Saturday, you think I'll get anything by the end of this week?

I would wait till you have the ceicio7 adapter in your hands then go down to the store and try a bunch on your gh1. Take a still shot and use the zoom in LCD function to check the corners of your image for chromatic aberation. Go with the lens you like best.
I bought and sold a bunch of FD's the FD 50mm f1.4 SSC was a keeper.

I found a trick online to test out my 50mm/1.4 FD - on the inside of the silver ring that you twist to put the lens on the body, there is a little clip that locks it in place. Take a small flathead, key, toothpick, whatever, push it down and twist the silver ring all the way like you are mounting it to a camera. Then push the larger metal tab to it's engaged position. Now, voila - you can adjust the aperture off the camera. Be sure to turn everything back before you try mounting it to a camera.

What? You mean mount the FD on the camera WITHOUT an adapter?
