Much like the RED or the hvx200.

All cameras have been boxes since day one. The reason I like the vdslrs is that they scrutinize the form factor that's become tradition over the years. It's fun.
These cams look serious though. Not pretty. The users are after muscle in this case.
800 ISO wow. Secret stuff eh?
I like so far. Way out of the price range. Good window shopping.
Cheers all

No sign of the new cameras at IBC. All they had was a sensor in a box with a lens on the front, filming a model car. He said it was too secret to show yet, and all they could display was this sensor technology demo. Was a bit annoyed since they made such a stink about releaseing it for IBC, but oh well. The arriscan machine was cool.

:-) I just think you get to a point of diminishing returns. 2K is about as much as the human eye can see. It's great to shoot on a 35 MM sensor both for the DOF and the ability to significantly crop the image. But you don't really need more res. Lets talk latitude and post production. That's what matters more to me.
I'm glad that ARRI is pulling these out (and cheaper than I would have expected), because it will continue to drive workflow solutions. I'm sure it validates digital cinema in some circles.

How can anyone use something that has only one visible logo on it. Last time I counted I got at least 16 logos on the least expensive camera system, thank god we can design at least four logos per handle nowadays...

I know, I didn't even know they existed until a couple of weeks ago. I saw the Bank Job, thought it was a really crisp image, went looking online, and discovered the D-20.
Now I want one.
And Jim, isn't the human eye something like several hundred k depending on how you measure?
EDIT: Is there anyway we could see how this holds up against a 7D on a Res chart?
