new to fcp, question about ingesting p2 files

Hey, I'm having to make the switch from premiere cs3 to FCP for school this coming fall so I've decided to start working with it a bit in the meantime to get a feel for it. Everything's been pretty trouble free thus far but I've noticed when I ingest my p2 contents folder (from an external hd) fcp automatically splits up my audio and video files so I have to import each into the timeline seperately...Is there a way around this?

Are you using log and transfer in Final Cut Pro 6.0.5 or later?

Or trying to drag in the native mxf files? Because native import of mxf files isn't supported. You need to L/T or use Raylight.

If the former, what are you L/T import settings?

Ahh yeah thanks Dave, I was just trying to import the clips into a new bin, not log and transfer them. Everything's running smooth now so far as I can tell, now I just have to figure out why I cant get any filters to apply to selected clips, arg! the joys of learning new software haha.

Lando, might want to check out Calibrated or Raylight. Makes P2 and FCP a lot easier IMHO.

If you are log and transferring, then a video track and four audio tracks are log and transferred.

If you import a raw mxf video file, no audio comes along.

It might be helpful if you clarify what you are doing.

For clarification, if P2CMS is installed, then dragging MXF files to the timeline is partly supported; you can drag them in, but the audio doesn't come in attached to it. You'd have to drag all the audio separately.
