Well I have been looking into adapters lately and I believe the safest and almost cheapest route with adapters appears to be going with the DMW-MA1 (http://panasonic.net/avc/lumix/syste...ies.html#acc03) and then going on ebay and picking up the necessary adapter to the lens of your choice.
However, I was wondering if someone knew if by buying the panasonic adapter and an adapter like this (http://cgi.ebay.com/AF-Confirm-Nikon...3A1%7C294%3A50) if I would be able to maintain AF functionality and be able to control the aperture?
thanks

I was planning on getting one of these:

and then some fast Nikon primes with a physical aperture ring. I'm a filmmaker so auto-focus isn't really necessary.

I've been looking into getting a gh-1 and have looked at adapters over ebay is there a difference in quality, would they affect the end photo/video in a bad way?

well i was looking into that adapter... but i am doubtful as to the build quality. so by getting the panasonic one which is like $90 and then one of those ebay ones is like $10-40 for each adapter. making it cheaper to get more adapters than just nikon
and i am not worried about the auto focus functionality it is more that with the AF lenses you do not get a ring to adjust the aperture... thus i am wondering if the setup i posted would provide the ability to adjust the aperture via the camera

I say this lightly because in the extremes there will be an effect, however if your to buy the plastic adapters for sale on ebay you will not depreciate the quality of your footage. Assuming your not attaching poor lenses to the adapter. However, the thing that is important to watch out for is to not put too much stress (weight) on the camera body or the adapter as you can damage the lens, adapter and body. And since i imagine these adapters are not going to have the greatest build quality... use them with caution

1.) The adapters are only used to allow the physical mounting of lenses to the camera body. Therefore, they cannot affect image quality, unless some optics are involved (which shouldn't be the case for any adapter to Four Thirds or Micro Four Thirds). However, poorly made adapters might affect the focus calibration of the lenses. A lens must be mounted precise distance away from the image plane. Even if it's just a little bit off, the focus will be off.
2.) With cheap stuff, there's always the question of quality control and durability. That said, I would not hesitate to buy the cheap stuff. These are such simple devices that I can't imagine any price premiums to be very well justified.
3.) AF confirm chips only give the camera a fixed number for aperture. This is only data; you can still change the aperture to anything that you want, if your lens has as manual aperture ring. AF confirm chips don't do anything else.

I got a Nikon adapter from China on ebay that was posted here and am super happy since it takes all old and new nikon lenses.
I also got a c-mount 25mm to 4/3 adapter and have a couple of cinema lenses that work fine after setting the GH1 to 2x digital zoom.
I might get a canon adapter later on but am already very happy with what I got.
The adapters are all working well, it all depends on the lenses!!!
I wish I could find some Nikon or Canon 12 or 14 mm lenses to get some wide-angle glass. Since the range doubles with 35mm glass, I got extreme tele stuff now but wide angle is my problem.

i just got my Canon FD adapter in today.
i dont have the GH1 yet (next week), but the build quality is very solid.
metal, nice and hefty, and my FD lenses lock in very firmly without any play.
Heres a listing for the same one. $75 off ebay...

I'd love to know how you get on with that one.
This guy has a couple of problems with it. (It's actually a different mount from the same seller).
http://cjeastwd.blogspot.com/2009/06...-om-mount.html
The biggest worry is the bit about red paint coming off. I'd had to ruin my sensor with a fleck of loose paint.
I wonder how it compares to the slightly more expensive jinfinance one.
