Mac FCP AVCHD>Prores or DVCPROHD Workflow

Ok so I am sure this question has been asked before, but I couldn't find a solution to my questions. So I have a quad core mac pro with the most recent final cut studio, and I am wondering what is the best workflow. I downloaded a Test avchd mts. file that someone posted on this forum and I wasn't able to get it to work. As far as i know, the DVCPROHD panasonic convertor is PC only and therefore i'm stuck with that, however what is the best process for using prores? I tried converting the MTS file in compressor but it didn't even read the file. I don't have a HMC150 yet but I plan to get one in the very near future, so I wanna have these things nailed by the time i do purchase it. Can you simply Log and Transfer the files just as you would with MTX files produced by a hvx?

If there is a good thread that has this nailed just direct me to that please.

By the way, this is my first post on this forum, although i've been lurking here for a while. I post alot over at Hv20.com and i'm moving from my canon hv20 to a more profesional hmc150. Can't wait to get it

    Thanks

    -Matthew

FCP for whatever rewason needs rthe whole AVCHD card structure, not just the .mts files. For testing, see if you can find a complete card image... some have been posted around here in the past...
"I'd like to say that I've never come across two know nothing pretenders on the weird wide web before, but unfortunately it's all too common and is exactly why, according to the last government survey, only 5% of all internet users ever use forums or chats. And it's exactly why I'm done with this one. You two really need to get jobs and out of your mother's basements. You can't fix stupid. And I don't have time for stupid." -swoopie

Additionally you could transcode with another tool like Toast 9/10. FCP seems to have some issues with that AVCCAM-footage still.

It seems weak to have to use a 3rd party tool when I already have compressor included with fcp, ya know?

Compressor can't deal with it. The import functionality is invoked by Log and Transfer...

Are you sure there are problems when importing AVCHD to FCP? I used to have them (some adjacent frames were swapped during transcoding), but one of the recent FCP upgrades addressed HMC150-related issues afair. I haven't done the AVCHD->ProRes transcoding since then, but I really hoped that bug had already been fixed

I just heard from my friend that final mate for mac supports importing single .mts files and convert to prores for fcp.
