Hi,
I'm looking to buy external storage for my new hvx200 PAL.
I want to work directly to it without a P2 card, and I want it to be SSD.
I can get citidisk HD 120 SSD for 1700 US$. but I like the FS for its screen and name. I just don't know if I can get FS PAL or if it even matters. also, does FS comes as a SSD too?
I understand that FS is much better but more expensive, but I care more for the PAL issue, SSD and working without a P2.
Does anyone have an advice or recommendation?
Thanks!
Omer.

get the firestore , they have PAL compatible models. I have it and there is an italian company that makes a modification to hot-swap the sata drives! beats any P2 card for the price!!

I am going to get it next week.
there is even the possibility to turn off the fan of the FS100 if you buy solid state sata drives!!!

I just can't understand - P2 cards can record as fast as 640mbs. FW only 400 top (avg). how can a Hard drive replace a P2 card? can I record on 1080p or 720pN directly to the hard drive? no P2 at all?
what kind of Hard drive does the Firestore has inside? 5400, 7200, 10K? sata?
Sorry for the ignurance.

Everything the P2 card can do the Firestore FS100 can do. That includes recording 1080p and 720pn. For the specs on the Firestore you can visit the website for Focus Enhancements.

If you want a PAL Firestore, make sure you buy one. German Ebay is your fiend.
I bought a NTSC FS and Focus chharged me 350 Euros to install the PAL firmware.
That italian modification is just great.

The FireStore is cool but we are on a very tight budget.
Now that a SSD (Solid State Hard Drive) with high speed SATA-3 interface is around USD $100 and I can purchase a FireWire box for about USD $60 why not just build my own external storage device?
What are the pros and cons?
We have two Panasonic HVX-200 cameras and a couple 16G P2 cards plus a couple 8G P2 cards but we tend to fill them up quickly when shooting feature films. A couple external boxes as I have described would come in very handy ... if they worked properly.
Thank you.

I recently picked up 2 Firestores, brand new on runout for less than $500 each for my HVX200 and 200A. Can't beat that!
