Conventional wisdom now says Canon release a firmware patch in April that will add Manual Controls and 24p to the 5dM2. What started as rumor speculation has now become a near certainty in many posts by users on this board and others.
Question: Do you think Canon will come through with one or more of these changes as a firmware fix in the near future?
---
Personally, while I hope for the most features possible, I believe they will only add 25p. They can say it is a 'fix' for European countries as opposed to conceding that they are adding features via fimware. Here's hoping I am wrong...

What is the point of this poll ?
Canon have made no announcement, you may as well go to a palm reader and ask them what they think Canon are going to do by looking at the lines on your hands.
The poll will show a mixture of guess work and what people would like to see. The one option missing (the option any honest person would be compelled to select) would be "How should I know?".
"I believe they will only add 25p." what is this belief based on ?

No problem, just voicing my opinion. The poll will tell us what we know - people want manual control and 24/25p - as well as a good spread of guess work.
Agreed, since the 5DII was released there has been rumour after rumour, with people inerrant in their certainty that Canon are going to release a firmware update with manual controls, 24p and so on.
This latest rumour is just that, another rumour, just like the last one and the one before it and the one before that, going right back to Vincent Laforet's ruminations that Canon were going to look at implementing 24p/manual control.
Canon have no history of adding features or making big (non-corrective) firmware upgrades, I remember a similar fog of wishful thinking surrounding Canon giving HV20 users manual control, with people certain that it would happen, it was just a matter of when.
I agree 25p is a necessity, I have had numerous shots ruined by flicker/pulsing lights.
If the poll is about speculative opinion, I have to admit my honest contribution would have to be "How should I know" !
I think 25p is a necessity, but the rumour of an email suggesting Canon might update it's firmware does not lead me to put any weight on the idea that they have decided to reverse their decision to make the 5D mark II shoot at 30p only.
Maybe I should just lighten up !
Signed.
Disgruntled of London.

P.S I voted: "Manual Controls, 25p, 24p, AGC (Autogain) Override, Audio Monitoring"
How's that for cognitive dissonance?:P

if it happens, it will be aperture only, since you can 100% solve this with manual aperture ring lenses (people mostly use old nikons and most videographers have nikon primes anyway), so canon would fix this, just to get that cash flowing back to them from canon lens sales, not away from them...
other than that , that would be it.

If we're lucky we'll get 25p, and that's it.

If there will be a firmware update, I expect manual controls including ISO selection. I also think they will have additional updates such as Auto ISO in manual still photo mode. I think change of frame rate is out of the question.

I think they will remove the ability to lock the exposure.

I think Canon will simply send out miniature crutches you can hang off the camera and a sticker that says 'god bless tiny tim'

According to the 3 Canon reps at PMA I spoke with, we won't see manual controls or 24p in this iteration of the 5D MII - I'd say we're at least a year out IMO.
