The year is 2025...Panasonic stopped selling P2 5 years earlier. 3D cameras shooting 8k images that are recorded uncompressed cost $3k.

16 years ago I shot SVHS-C with a camera larger than an EX1.

    Forever?
Yeah but think about what your saying lol, so the cams resolutions have increaded (fairly considerably) - in the big scheme of things ;) TV's are getting bigger - but the discernable difference I think negates this idea that we'll all be racing to get 8k res cameras with more colour! I know your kidding and saying 25 years haha, but all HD is doing is making images more like we might percieve them for 'real'.

The aesthetic of film, and its qualities (sharp or soft) means that very well we could hit a peak of audience expectation that allows for greater visual diversification.

That even in digital we could hit retro-visualisation with our films where they are outputted on various forms rather than the 'hottest' forms.

Even now we have guys making films on 16mm s16mm some on 8mm... Insane though it sounds, there may in future be people that actually shoot films on formats we would think are INSANE given the available technology.

Keep it until 4k is de rigueur.

I'm thinking at some point somebody somewhere will get the itch to recreate the andromeda modification for the HVX200. I've read it was the bee's knees for the dvx and that possibly some HVX200s were done as well. I dont think the HVX200 is a dead horse yet!

I'll tell you I love the easy use of my HPX170. Tons of features and so comfortable to shoot with.

Well, yes, it is obsolete now... fortunately, every other camera is also obsolete.

Yes, the corporations plan the obsolescence years ahead of time. 4k, 8k, 16k, 3d, holographic virtual images, 4d, etc.
