Convert Mono to Stereo AFTER EDITING..

When i started editing i assumed PP CS3 would have similar features such as Vegas when it comes to editing Audio.

I went ahead and completed all my cuts in the timeline for Video and Audio... and then realized that all the audio clips are in Mono.

I learned that an Audio Clip can be converted to Stereo or 5.1 before any cuts are made... and when its in the Project Window.

How can i convert the Mono Audio Clips that are already in the Audio Tracks? Or.... can you suggest a workaround.... where i can remove all the audio clips from the Track, convert the audio clips in project window, and bring the original cuts/clips back to the Audio Track without much work.

Please advise... I'm sort of stuck.

    Many thanks

If all your audio is on the same channel, you can nest your sequence into a new sequence, duplicate your audio track and ad the fill right or fill left effect. You can do this for individual clips but it might be more time consuming.

No other NLE has the audio tools Vegas has.

What do you mean by making them "stereo"? If you just want the same channel coming out of both the L/R speakers, the mono audio tracks should already do that. Do they not?

Yes... the Mono track does produce sound on both, L & R... but its Mono.

I'd like to convert them to either Stereo or 5.1

Can you outline the exact steps to accomplish this?
I tried to duplicate individual clips on the track but they are duplicated as Mono. Therefore i cannot apply the fill right or fill left effect as they belong to Stereo Tracks.

    Thank you

Do you just want to make the tracks into stereo tracks so you can pan them or something? Or do you actually want to make the sound stereo?

If the latter, it can't be done. It's just mono. It would be the same as trying to make black and white into color.

Now, you can create multiple mono tracks and mess around with the phase of one to make a sort of stereo simulation, but it won't actually be stereo.

The track is what you put the clip ON in the Premiere timeline.
