Zoom Ring Buzz Problem

Hi All,
I think I'm having a problem with my original model HVX200. I bought it just over a year ago and have only used it for very small projects. In the range of probably only 12 hours of actual use. I pulled the camera out of its 7 month hibernation and started recording a new project. First thing I noticed was a electronic like hum when using the Zoom ring in manual mode. It increases in volume the faster you zoom. I have to check my footage to see if it is loud enough to be picked up but i was able to hear it on my headset.

Does anyone know if this is normal? Can it be easily fixed? Why is it happening?

hey tom,

i have this same issue...i thought it was normal, even though it really shouldn't be.

i've done sound checks with senneheiser mounted to camera and it does pick it up. i'd be curious to hear if others have the same problem with this noise.

Neko30, when did you buy your camera? Maybe ours were in the same batch. I bought mine August 2007.
