    im thinking about buying a DVX100B from here with 690 hours on the heads for $900, do you think the camera has lots of life still left in it? or should i just buy a newer one?

    A DVX100B is rated for about 2000 hours (on average) before the heads need replacing. If the camera in question has been well taken care of, then it has plenty of life left in it. By using a cheap miniDV camcorder for capturing, rewinding, etc., you can extend the DVX's useful life. Further, if you use a cheap camcorder as a slave unit to do the actual recording, you can extend the DVX's life indefinitely. Here's how to do it:

    I just rolled over 69, and I use mine to cature too. I love that self cleaning head.
