Sorry, didn't upgrade directly. My path was 6->6.5->Pro->Pro 1.5.
No problems along the way, but I can't say if the big jump will have more problems.

There is an upgrade avialble to go from 6.0 to 1.5 it's just a little more expensive. Cost me about $299 instead of $99. But I did upgrade from 6.0 to 1.5
Everything works fine except I am having an export problem (see my thread "HELP Audio Prob PremPro1.5" in this adobe catagory)
However I don't think this prob is a result of the upgrade as I went tthe Adobe site and several people are having a similar problem even without upgrading, jusy using the full version...
Hope your upgrade goes smoothly.

The issue I had in making the transition was moving from A/B editing to single track editing. A definite challenge to say the least. :-/

I'm wondering if this has anything to do with the new audio conforming feature in Premiere Pro. It's actually kind of a pain. When you import video or capture video, it has to conform the audio for some reason. This gives a long delay, depending on the length of your raw footage, before audio will play back in the timeline or the preview window. I mistakenly believed for awhile that there was only audio on part of my clips. I kept re-importing, recapturing. And then I realized the audio was still conforming.
Is that the problem or is there something else? I'm upgrading to Pro 1.5 and I want to be award of what to expect.

No... my problem was not with capture or importing at all. All my caputures and importing other files worked fine.
It was when I wanted to export my timeline to tape, to avi,..... to anything. I get audio dropouts every few seconds. Played back fine on my external monitor when I was editing, but as soon as I went to export....dropouts....Finally thought it might be a cpu problem (overtaxed or something) but, I went to the Adobe site forum and others with MUCH faster computers were having the same problem. Tried every combination of setting in the Project settings, Playback settings menus, shut down everything but, what I needed running, still bad exporting.
Finally ,the only workaround I have found is to Unlink the audio and video in the PRO timeline, export the video track ALONE to an AVI, then export the audio track ALONE to a wav. file and import them separately into an Adobe 6.0 project, where I can relink them and then export that to tape or file or whatever.
Pain in my ass but, its the only way I can get any Prem Pro 1.5 project off my computer .
P.S. not everyone is having this problem so I hope you are in the clear.
