I might get called some names here,
but i swear I searched this question and key words within it;
If someone can give me any information on this;
Is panasonic admitting to the noise issues in the mids with hpx170, and creating a fix for this?
Have they made any official, or unofficial announcements?
I have read that the wobble is going to be handled through the 5year warranty,
but the noise is a huge concern with me.
I am holding off on ordering one until I know this, but would like to get one in my hands before January when I start a 30 day shoot;
Anyone have some information?
Feel free to email it if this thread is elsewhere and needs to be closed.

As far as it's been told, Barry_Green did a test showing results and he concluded that the 170 is cleaner than the HVX200A. Jan_Critterdan says the same thing but that the HPX170 has different "processing" and has a different texture than the 200A.
I disagree, still think the 200A produces a better overall image but there's no point in bothering with it. If noise is a concern you should look into another camera or go down to a camera house and side-by-side the 200A and 170 and EX1.
Timur Civan here on the boards says he gets clean images from it, you can check his latest short COLD CALLS in the DVXFest area.
Before I got my hands on the 170 I was very confident with the idea of shooting a feature on my HPX170 + Letus Ultimate combo. Now, I'm pretty sure that we're going to lug a RED setup around instead. Last thing I want to kick myself in the ass over at the end of a grueling shoot is image noise.
Then again, others are happy so, mileage varies.
Have fun.
Oh, and if you're shooting in January shoot me an email and I'll fly home to help.

Just got my HPX-170 this morning. loaded the scene files from Barry's book into the camera, used the lonoiz scene and shot my desk with only the LCD monitors and LED lights that light my studio. (i mean the little strips you can get at costco for $50, not production lights). checked the footage, looked clean, even in the dark blue/black areas of shadows.
Just remember that the coring values are different on the HPX compared to the HVX-200a. +2 on the HPX = 0 on the HVX.
While on the subject. Thanks to Barry for all those settings. It saves me all the time i spent on the EX-1 tweaking that when i first got it....
Who wants to do endless testing when they just dropped that kind of money on a camera?Monday Sunnlinn
