Hey all ,
I can get deal on a Rental DVX100 for $1800.00
I've seen the 100a for 2900.00 around the web.
I read the polls but was still wondering if the DVX used is a good idea.
any thoughts
thanks

Sur its a good deal dependent on hours, etc.
I take it out for a shoot test if you can then judge the footage.

Sounds like a good idea I can check the hours.
I'm a novice DP though and I've not worked with the camera before. This would be my first camera. I'm shooting docs and EPKs for bands what not. I mean I plan to get into it deeper I guess my question is as a non pro user would i not miss the new features that the a has?

Depends how tight your budget is. the new one has mostly "comfort" upgrades.... with a few image upgrades but mostly only noticeable if you really know what you are doing. The saving of $1000+ might go well on a tripod etc.
Being your first camera, the old DVX may suit you fine, may actually be overwhelming. But, for $1000 more you get a brand new camera with a full warranty (although $2900 I doubt it.. I would be skeptical)
Guess it comes down to how much 1000 is worth to you.
