I have 30 hours to convert.... so before I do so I would love to check my settings.
If I select DVCPROHD720 I do not see the frame rate for /24 as a preset.
So I assume modify 720/60 to 24..... or is it 23.98?
Or go for ProRess HQ?
Also why does it say Quality as Medium? It seems to have no control over that.
Any info before I press convert would be greatly appreciated.
Should I do a bulk of all 15 cards or go card by card.. how does that affect naming them?
I am running tests on small clips as we speak. Thank you again for any help so i do not waste my time.

I do see a difference between DVCPRO and ProResHQ...... enough to warrant HD space I am unsure.

I have been using toast to do dvcprohd transcodes as i dont have FCP6 and the pro res codec.
It displays 720/60 but if you transcode and use current frame rate in the settings it will give you 23.98 and i have been able to move the quality slider to high for dvcprohd.

What's the difference between DVCPRO and ProRes? Which one is better to use for final cut users?

They both use intraframe compression and the bitrate is similar in my tests. BUT the ProRes codec does not have the DVCPROHD image size restriction and it has a few other advantages. For use in Final Cut I would therefore recommend the ProRes codec.

Thanks.... I did in the end go ProRes. I can see in the night footage a detail difference. The ProRes just is sharper.
