Fair enough. I won't be comparing an A1 but I will try to do a quick 1080 vs HD-SDI 1080, 1080 > 720 vs HD-SDI 720 as well.
I still like the little bit of resolution as it all counts, that's just my personal thought.

It was my understanding that the hvx isn't even 1280x1080, the format is. I always thought of it as going from it's 960x540 chips to 1280x1080 and then shifting again to 1920x1080 a two step process. Where as the xha1 goes from 1440x1080 to 1920x1080, one step, and a smaller step at that. I don't know about only a 5% difference but pretty much everyone I know thinks the a1 is shaper at any frame rate than the hvx at 1080, and thats without telling them which is which. Color always goes to the panasonic, which is usually more important to clients anyways, but we all knew that.
I always wished the new chips in the 200a, 170, and 150 were a native 1280x1080.Why do there have to be puppets like Frank?

I third on that sice i own both cams. Colr certainly goes to pany but res goes to canon. the a1 is a good mix of hvx and the ex1. This is why i've decided to keep my other a1 and hv 20.
