In the past I have purchased an extended warranty for my 3 chip video cameras. Has anyone considered the Mack Camera Diamond extended warranty?

They sell for a little over $300 and cover accidental drops. They also offer 2 free CCD cleanings.
The Panasonic 150 does come with a 3 year warranty but I am considering this extended warranty. What are your thoughts about extended warranties like these?
Thanks in advance!

No, it doesn't cover accidental drops.

There are many things covered by the Mack Camera extended warranty that is not covered by the Panasonic warranty. This 3 year Mack Camera & Video Service Inc. service contract covers: http://www.mackcam.com/servicecontra...=85&row_id=143
* Manufacturer Defects
* Impact Damage
* Sand/Grit Damage
* Accidental and Unintentional Abuse
* Mechanical Malfunctions
* Normal and Abnormal Wear and Tear
* 2 Free CCD Cleanings for the Life of the Contract
* 1 Free Video Head Cleaning Per Year for the Life of the Contract
I am not sure how much a CCD cleaning costs. The 3 year extended warranty costs about $315. Seems like pretty good insurance for about $100 a year.
What do you think?

It doesn't sound bad to me.
I get accidentals on my 35mm bodies and I never thought much about it until I had to use it once...D600, 7D | CS-6 | Dell m6500 - Windows 7 Pro 64bit

Panasonic doesn't cover manufacturer defects?
Well one great thing about an extended warranty is you can really push your camera's limits without the constant worry. Good luck!

Panasonic does cover manufacturer defects. This extended warranty covers additional items. I am considering buying one to cover the CCD cleanings and accidental or impact damage.

Anyone care to comment about how the Mack product compares to the SageMax policy that B&H sells? (Desiree, you can chime in too.)
Thanks in advance your your comments. Norm Michaels

Came across this thread, nice. The Mack Diamond warranty is exactly what I want. I have always bought Mack, bought equip from B&H. But I am going to be buying a prosumer camcorder from either eBay or Holcomb's (educational reseller for Canon) so I am out of luck at B&H since now they sell SageMax warranties that you can only buy if you buy your equipment from B&H. Now I just need to find an online dealer where I can buy the Mack Diamond warranty.

Extended warranty coverage?
