As a prospective HMC150 buyer (soon I hope) I have been ravenously searching out new clips from this camera, and am grateful to all of those who have posted their clips for us to see and evaluate.

One clip I have not found yet, was that old standard of low light challenges for video: candlelight.

Not just for me mind you, but I think for so many others who are considering this camera over other sub $4k cams (like the Canon XH-A1, JVC GY-HD110U, and Sony HVR-V1U).

Candlelight, with its soft fall-off and warm color, is something that puts a cams propensity to noise to the test. And although I know that this would not define the 150's overall image performance, it would still be great to see how it tackles it. I am sure there is a more clinical way to test noise, but in this case we can see it in terms of how we might actually light a romantic scene.

So, to those owners who might be interested, would you consider shooting a few seconds of a person's face or some other still life- lit by one or two candles (with and without gain)?

The 150 is very promising in terms of its low light ability. Is the 150 a high def progressive version of the Sony PD-150- with the color rendition of a DVX?? This seems like it.

If possible could you post the PRIVATE folder from the card or post the .mts file? Thanks folks!

Edit: if the mods want to move this to the reg forums until it has any clips, please do

Yeah I would do this but I don't have any candles and I think I'll get in some serious trouble cause I live on campus at a college. When I go home this weekend I'll give it a try.

If you right click on the grab and choose properties (win) you can see where I got them. Probably from SLR, but used it to show what might be a good repro for the 150.

    Uploading candle footage now.

    CandleFootageNoGain

The footage with gain is longer. I'll upload that to vimeo. Both clips are 720p24
