I have to buy some more batteries for my fx1 and wanted to know what people thought about the generic batteries. The price difference is ridiculously less expensive and I'm just curious if these generic batteries are just as good performance wise as the sony brand. Thoughts?

never used them with my sony but I bought them for my older canon XL1 and they were awesome, can't say though... I've always had to shell out the extra just for my mental wellbeing

most of the time, the cheapo batteries do not perform that great. If they did they would cost the same as the Sony's. They are cheap for a reason... and that reason is, well, they're cheap.

...or Sony charging some extra for the "SONY" sticker.
There are not that much battery factories out there.
Most of the big boys buy from the same companies as the cheaper resellers.
Thou there are some real crappy units for sale sometimes, most of the
"free" batteries are as good as the ones with that sticker - at least thatīs what I found.
Got 1 battery with a Panasonic sticker and 5 no name.
They perform the same but one of the nonames that I bought in Italy.

I just bought a cheap battery for my FX7 for $20 off ebay. So far it works fine - info lithium time remaining readout works perfectly - so I will order a few more... in Aus the NP-F970 costs $290 I'll be paying about one tenth of the cost of the Sony.
I also got a generic charger for $15 which also works fine. This after the guy at the Sony shop told me only the genuine sony charger (AU$170) would work with the info-lithium batteries.

We're using several generics on the FX-1 and others with no problems, happy with performance.

Generic Batteries?
