I have written several times that I have had consistent success with the Transcend 8 gb card in the Kensington reader on an EX-3 in HQ mode.

I am looking forward to seeing results of the 32gb 30 mb/s cards.

Yes, you have.. and it was Alister and your post that made me look into the best solution I could find for the EX1.

Also, I thought the Kensington with 8GB transcend cards was having memory issues when using HQ modes?

If so, you may want to try the new Extreme cards.

All that I can say is that I have had no issues with HQ and the transcend.

I'm looking forward to the new extreme cards but at $300 (and with no other device currently that can use the 32gb SDHC cards), I want to be the second kid on the block to try them.

    Thanks Ned.
    That's good info...
    Hmm..
Makes me want to try the 16GB Transcend and the Kensington.

You may want to try the 16GB Transcend / Kensington with the EX3 too.
Sometimes the largers cards have slower access times.

I think the new Extreme may be a safer bet.

If we could get AFT to get their expresscard adapter to work with the Extreme III 30MB/s, this would be the best for the EX1. The AFT allows the memory hatch to close on the EX1.

Also, if AFT were to write the needed additional coding to access the new Extreme III 30MB/s full data rate capability, this combo might work with even the S&Q modes.

The SxS 32GB card is over $1500. This is QUITE the savings, to say the least.

    $1200 to be exact!

I have tested in my computer only the Transcend 16Gig SD memory and it is twice as fast as the Patriot 8Gig card in continious reading and writing; both are class 6, so it must be that all class 6 cards are not created equal. Transend memory might be the "Holly Grail" of SD cards so far, and the answer for reasonably priced one hour ($59.99) HQ video. -- Carl

me too.. but i guess you get what you pay for... i will never rely on cheap cards, like the ones you're testing.. i had myself a few cards dead in my still camera,
despite lifetime warranty of the manufacturer, also a number of my colleagues
    had problems with card...

once you loose something important on the card, you will never stop blaming
yourself for saving on cheaper cards... don't reinvent the bicycle... cars will get
cheaper, and the ones by sony sxs, or p2 cost a lot, for a reason..

    2 cents.

    Hmmm...
I've lost stuff on just about everthing I've owned....
Not to mention inexpensive does not always imply it will not last or offer as much protection as something that cost more.

I've had hard drives crash regardless of how much I've spent on them.
Costing more does not "always" mean something will be better.
