How do you guys mount that slide to a single tripod?
I'm afraid of breaking it when sliding the camera to one end if there is just one tripod in the middle.
My slider is 33" (85cm) long by the way.

Please see the first post and associated photo album.

If you don't have a beefy tripod, be careful. I use a Bogen 3046 and add 5lb. ankle weights to each spreader (15lbs. total). This allow me to slide from one end to the other with a pretty heavy rig (DVX100b, Redrock M2, FF).

    Get a good tripod.

So i got my slider last week and man... am i thrilled that i got it! It'll take me about 2 weeks to complete though as my school shop is closed for the next two weeks due to the Olympics.

Anyways, I opened my package yesterday and this morning, i got a product update from igus. they have released new bearings for the Drylin rails.

they released the DryLinŽ WJRM - Roll and slide - they have placed a wheel within the bearing to help reduce friction and make glides easier.

An additional DryLinŽ W solution is the combined rolling and sliding carriage.
Because of the defined load direction the required drive force is reduced by the maintenance free roller bearing. This system represents a good solution for movements up to 50 kg.

I wonder when it'll be available. It'll be exciting to see if it'll help with camera movements.

Congrats on the order...you'll love the slider.

To recap previous posts, I'll be meeting with the igus rep tomorrow morning and will get a sample of the new bearing...but I wouldn't get your hopes up. It was really designed for heavy sliding loads that hang vertically. You'll notive the wheel rides along the side of the rail. (which would be the top if a sliding door were attached)

I'll let you all know... although I've never had a problem with my sliders as is.

Well folks it's time to reveal the efforts of my never-ending quest for the perfect slider!
But first, I'd like everyone here to know how much I appreciate the support and great input provided in the thread.
I never thought it would take off like it did...OVER 200,000 views and new users everyday! Let keep it going...

In thanks, I'd like to offer these to my fellow DVXuser's first...so here goes.

    My newest addition:

ZazaSlider feet/handles! CNC milled aluminum construction. Weight: 1lb.
Ready to mount on either 60mm or 40mm rail. 10" closed...

These will work on any igus-based slider...even the 'other' guys!

16" expanded! Feet adjust to level rail on uneven surfaces.

On the floor upright for low shots... adjust the handles up & flip the rail
    for ultra-low shots.

    On a tripod.

    Mount a monitor.

    Vertical slide anyone?

    ...or a 'Shooter' style shouldermount....

    More information at www.zazaslider.com

Questions? Comments? Lets keep the thread rollin'!!

Nicely designed. Makes me want to get my hands on a pair just to see what you've done.

Taking orders...shipping on the 24th! You will love them.
They will work with all igus-based sliders...and can be adapted to work on pretty much ANY slider out there.

I also have a bracket coming that will let you use them with 15mm rods!
    (19mm to follow shortly)

    Soon enough my friend...soon enough!

There will be a bracket, so you can use these as you handles for 15mm rod shoulder rigs.

...and if you notice, you can mount a monitor on one side...and an audio recorder on the other! Great for the DSLR crowd. LOTS of possibilities.
