I'm looking at an upgrade to HD. I currently have a DVX100a. I've compared the Sony HVR-Z7U to the HVX200. I'm leaning toward Sony because of the ability to record to MiniDV at HD. It is great for archiving in HD.
I am confused on a couple things. Can you record to a standard MiniDV or do you have to record to a MiniDV HD tape?
I've heard varying info on the capture card prices. What type of capture card and what are the prices of the cards compared to the P2 cards the Panasonic uses?

I have a Z7 and a S270 and in both cameras I use normal D-tapes, Sony Prmium. For CF-cards, I use Transcend 16 gb 133X cards and they work flawlessly.

I have the z7, and I use standard mini DV tapes with no dropouts etc. I also use a trancend card, 133x 32gb. Was about £70 and have not had a single problem with it.
The Z7 also does cool things like slow motion, which is something that the HVX cant do (OK, the HVX will do 60fps but the z7 will do 200)Be the HoFos friend: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pi...62&ref=profile
