anyone hear about this? I heard they offer as much as $40K to buy the rights to your film and distribute it on their site?

It's called Red Envelope, Netflix's in-house distributor. They license films to release theatrically, on retail DVD, and on Netflix. They're usually films that either have major festival exposure, or are being released through a distributor they've worked with before. Google "Red Envelope Entertainment" and you can track them down.
