Friend On Couch Needs Entry Level Job

Hey everyone, an ole friend has been sleeping on my couch for a couple of weeks, trying to find some production/post/pre/anything here in Los Angeles and hasn't had much luck. He's been hitting refresh on Craislist like a maniac and it's not yielding anything. Does anyone have any other good websites for production type work here in Los Angeles? I've seen Media Match, but what else is out there?

Any advice would be awesome, he's new to LA and a little bit of a loss on figuring how to get into the biz out here. He worked a bunch in Saint Louis and is ready to rock out here in LA.

Also, if anyone wants to check out his resume to hire him, it's at: www.chriskinker.com

    Thanks! - Franch

First thing I'd do is change the resumé. Get rid of the "objective", move "education" to the very bottom, make the position (not the production) the bold part of work experience, and provide a link to a printer friendly version. Also, rename the "uncategorized" link to something else 'cause "uncategorized" is very close to "unorganized" and that's not an association you want people to make when they are viewing your resumé.

    Have him check out:
    showbizjobs.com
    mandy.com
    entertainmentcareers.net
    realitystaff.com

Sorry for not making actual links, but I'm in a hurry.

While he's looking for production work I highly recommend doing some BG work. I did it for a year straight when I got to Los Angeles while I was hunting down writing and prodco work. I made a crapload of dough too, once you figure out who to sign up with and what CD's are doing what.

    He can start here:
    http://www.centralcasting.org/LA/actors/index.html

Only work when he wants to and make a lot of connections, including hundreds of other guys in the same exact boat. I met a ton of filmmakers, actors and crew that were using BG work to supplement their income while hunting down gigs.

    Good luck.
