5 pages? Yikes! How would you do any meaningful dialog in 5 pages? 10 is almost squeezing out heavy dialog scripts (thinking like a Pulp Fiction kind of fast-talking tale). I think 10 pages is a good limit. Scripts read fast.

5 pages may not sound like much, but it's plenty. MoviePoet has a monthly screenwriting contest and the limit there is 5 pages. When I write dvxuser fest entries, I try to keep them at 5 pages maximum for the 6 minute time limit.

My 6 minute Timefest film is a 9 page script. So I guess it's just the difference between our two styles of writing.
Still, I vote for 10 pages. There's something nice about being able to tell a more complex story in Scriptfest than you can tackle in the FilmFests on the site. It kind of keeps everything from feeling the same. At least to me.Chris Johnson

I think 5 or 6 pages is fine myself. 10 pages is a little much.
If you can tell a good story in 5 or 6 pages you are definitely doing well. It's good practice.
That's what the film part of DVXFest teaches us. Try and tell a story in a 5 or 6 minute short. If you can do that and get the story across, you are doing well.
It teaches you to cut out the fluff and get to the point.
Cheers,
Mike

I intend to submit to the next Fest. I will be interested to know how my script fares against others. That's useful information. Maybe it shouldn't be posted publicly, in order to avoid embarrassing anyone -- but entrants should be able to get the info privately, I would think.
