    I was wondering how slow a song would have to play to sync the lyrics up at 2fps.

    I wanted to make a video using this effect of everything going by fast, but the person singing the song at normal pace......

    Thanks,
    Mike

    Well, it's late sunday night, so I could be wrong in my thinking, so here goes. Please ANYONE feel free to correct me if I am "stupid is as stupid does".

    2fps = 2 images and one second goes by.

    You require the person to appear to sing normal pace while everything flys by. So this is undercranking the camera? meaning that you should slow down as mentioned.

    The maths says: (values used based on pal playback)

    <speed you see> = <playbackspeed> / <your camera's speed>

    so let's fill in the expression (we're looking for playbackspeed), so:

    25 = x / 2 (frame rate used)

    25x = 2

    x = 12.5

    So 12.5 times slower when playing back at PAL speed, I could be wrong.

    Here is the basic formula I copied to a word document a while back (thanks to the original writer...)

    For an NTSC/US HVX, using a 24p timebase, for the following frame rates, adjust the song speed to:

    12 fps: make song last 1.956x longer by stretching it to 51.1% speed
    18 fps: make song last 1.333x longer by stretching it to 75.0% speed
    20 fps: make song last 1.226x longer by stretching it to 81.6% speed
    22 fps: make song last 1.067x longer by stretching it to 93.7% speed
    26 fps: make song last 0.907x as long as normal; play it at 110.25% speed
    30 fps: make song last 0.800x as long as normal; play it at 125% speed
    32 fps: make song last 0.747x as long as normal; play it at 133.87% speed
    36 fps: make song last 0.672x as long as normal; play it at 148.81% speed
    48 fps: make song last 0.498x as long as normal; play it at 200.80% speed
    60 fps: make song last 0.400x as long as normal; play it at 250.00% speed

    Yeah, I made that chart for all the published frame rates. I don't know what the exact frame rate is for 2fps right now though...

    Wouldn't it be easier just to lip-sync to a slowed-down version of the song and speed it up later?
