Need a new tripod for my HVX200A (for under 2k)

Question is can these 2 work -

    Miller SOLO DV 75mm Bowl

    n-

    Bogen Manfrotto 519 75mm

I really want the Sachtler DV-6SB recommended here, but if I can
purchase that later as an upgrade then that I will do.

I have the Miller legs (great tripod) and a Manfrotto 501HDV head (works fine locked down...) and I bought a Manfrotto 75mm ball to use it with the Miller. The one you want to use should be fine, just make sure you order the ball. Doesn't look like it comes with the head you want.

There are also two balls, one with a short handle and one with a long handle. I got the short handle for less weight and to be able to get the Miller all the way down to the ground. It is slightly hard to get to, so you might want to get the longer handle.

One other thing about the Miller. The tendency is to lower the larger secondary leg first, but use the lower one first. That way if you want to adjust or raise it more you don't have to bend way over to reach the tube tightner.

    Good luck!

Can you shed more light on the ball mechinism you mentioned, or at least provide a pic? Also how were you able to put a 501 head on those legs?!?

    A 75mm adaptor?

I run the miller solo ds 10 - complete legs (alloy) and head solution - i couldnt be happier - i get super smooth pans and rises with super smooth smooth acceleration , constant speed through shot and decelleration to smooth stop.

It is a perfect match for the hvx 200!

You just wont get the same action from a 501 head - i have seen online video comparisons and the 501 head will give you a jerky pan and random start / stop motion.

Just go the whole miller package !

I wouldn't dare buy the 501 I have my eyes set on the 516 or the head I mentioned at the beginning of this thread. I am only asking him to clarify what he was saying.
