Need help for a small video

I need to do a small video for school that requires me to include footage I did not shot myself (like archive image, old and new).

The problem is, I don't really know how to find or acquire those. I though that internet would be my friend here, as there is a lot of material on youtube. But the quality is too low (or so I think) to be shown on something bigger than a 10x10 cm screen.

Even if the quality was good enough, I don't know how I would save those video on my HDD.

Can I still find what I want on the internet, or do I need to go to some sort of librairie?

I didn't know where to post this, so if I'm in the wrong place, feel free to move it of course...
