XH A1 Coming Today.. filters? book?

I ordered my XH A1 from B+H and will receive it today.

    Two questions..
    1. Should I get a filter (protective, uv) to protect the lens?

    2. What book should I get.. does Barry Green have a book for the xh a1?

Please feel free to point me to threads which deal with this.

    Thanks,
    Ed

    YES, YES and YES again.

    Thanks fourthline,
I guess more specifically.. any suggestions on a specific filter or filter set?

I guess I would like a suggestion on a filter that 'stays on' ie: protective (would this be a uv filter?).
That is my main question, but also I welcome suggestions on other types of filters.

    I am looking a B + W filters.. anyone have a filter suggestion from B + W?
I am now assuming that I don't need 'UV' protection.. I only need a 'clear' filter to protect the lens (initially).

Go clear or UV shouldnt really be much different. B+W is probably the best you an do and what I would buy. Keep in mind though that any filter is going to take away from the image. I only shoot with a UV when I'm expecting my lens to be in peril. Dirty conditions, little kids with sticky fingers etc. The rest of the time I shoot naked. The lens. Not me.

b+w makes some really great filters. they do a great job of protecting the lens. I shot a documentary in the philippines (where it is hot and humid as hell) and I'm almost 100% sure that my lens would have been damaged to do dust and other debris and heat if that filter hadn't been there.

when I got back I took my cam to samy's camera just to have them double check everything was okay with the lens and such - they took it and in a few minutes came back out with it and told me everything was fine and everything was in pristine condition - even the lens. moral of the story? b+w is pure quality. german optics for the win.
