    Best Editing Program for HV20?

I was just wondering what people thought was the best editing software to use when working with the HV20. I currently use Vegas but I remember having to deal with the fact that it doesn't capture the footage in true 24p mode and I had to end up rendering my video at 30fps so the frames wouldn't interpolate so much.

I use Vegas 8 + TMPGenc 4 Xpress (for removing the pulldown)

Okay, but does that give me huge file sizes? Because I remember there was this other method to remove the pulldown but it made the files like 3x bigger when the m2t files were already big enough

The file size is smaller than the original one since you are removing extra frames. Of course if you change the compression, the file size will change. I don't change the compression. I keep the original settings.

If the file size is bigger, then it isn't as compressed. For example, I just started using the Cineform Neo to get my HV20 footage into Vegas as true 24P. It works great, but the files are quite a bit bigger. That also means they play back more smoothly, which is another plus in my book. And rendering is quicker too.

i don't know if it's vista or my computer or both but Vegas 8 and cineform are buggy as hell. V8 constantly crashes and cinefor can not reliably capture my clips. I have to use hdvsplit to capture then cineform to remove pulldown. Vegas 8 just crashes after a scene reaches over a minute long.

I am using vegas 8 with vista and before that I was using it with vegas 7. I've even used the beta version of vista with vegas 7 and didn't have a single problem. I will suggest you to uninstall vegas and install it back again.

What annoys me about vegas is that whenver I want to place a clip in between 2 others that it doesnt push one to the side like windows movie maker but you have to do each single clip one by one and if you have 100's its very painfull.

Tell me about it. It is like a nightmare. I couldn't believe when I first realized that.

Enable ripple editing and it will be done for you. It's a button in the toolbar, or it's CTRL+L.
