I'd be a little worried about using soap, in case I didn't clean it all off and it dried like that. I used a macro filter, not sure if it's much different then a lens (?)
How/where does this macro lens attach?

1) I wouldn't worry that much about that. I've done the cleaning of the focusing screen with some paint thinner, soap and water. Everything never been as clean as that after!
2) What macro filter? +2, +10..? It can vary a lot.
3) It's a lens that screw on the camcorder, then you screw the adapter on the lens. Plain simple!

1 oh, ok. I'll give that a shot one of these days!
2 It was a +10, part of a 4 macro filter set I got for $20. Cheap, I know
3 Oh ok, that makes sense. the one you linked to looked heavy duty

I found out that I was putting the macro filter on the front (stupid!) so I tried putting it before the adapter to see if it would work, and I held the adapter/lens in front and didn't see any improvements (the reason I held it up was because the filter size was to big).
Guess I'll start saving up for a prime lens.
