    A standard looking desktop, maybe a linux like konsole, icons, some sort of chat program, maybe a mouse pointer moving around etc.

    it's pretty easy, even for an AE newb like myself. I was just hoping for some tips on making it look realistic, but not a windows clone.

    I would first make the interface in photoshop using screenshots of different systems/ operating systems, and then i would have the mouse cursor and different windows as different layers to make it easier to animates in AE
