I recently upgraded (a friends copy) to Leopard. My duel systems adapter started to get buggy (worked a few times w/ suggested reboot) and now my MBP is not reading P2 cards at all. After pulling out some hair and trying to download every driver that I found mentioned on this forum, I have decided to go get my own copy of Leopard and do a fresh install and start from scratch.
I know that the duel systems adapter can work since it has worked in the past for me (it worked fine with tiger and I got a few offloads with Leopard). I am assuming that most of the people reporting back are having the same kind of driver based problems that I am having so . . .
David S. and others who are having success with with Leopard and DSA will you please (again) methodically describe the drivers necessary (links please) and the order in which you have installed them along with any other information that you may deem imperative?
Also is there any other free software from Panasonic out that will help to manage P2s once I get the DSA to work?
Maybe a sticky will come of it and we can all get to work. I for one am a bit frustrated with the time lost trying to get this DSA to work . I am anxious to learn more and get this P2 workflow to flow.
Help please . . .Thanks in advance

Fresh install of Leopard with OS upgrades, but don't install QT 7.4.
Stay with 7.3.1.
https://eww.pavc.panasonic.co.jp/pro.../macintosh.zip
Download above.
Install the P2PCCard Install.pkg.
Reboot.
Repair permissions.
Once booted, plug in DA.
Plug write protected p2 card into DA.
It should mount. Copy card to desktop (make certain its a copy, not an alias creation.)
Eject card, but keep DA connected if you have additional cards
Repeat as necessary.
When done eject adapter and reboot machine.

Thank You David S.
It occurs to me that the QT update to 7.4 might have been the final blow to the little adapter that could. I will follow your instructions. I considered trading for a G4 Powerbook but I am hopeful that the steps you have outlined will work. Again, Thank You.

By the way, what about FCP Updates. Should I avoid 6.2?

YES! stay with 6.0 or maybe 6.0.1 but don't go to 6.0.2

Sorry to come in late here, but I have a Duel Systems adaptor, and am moving over from PC to a Mac Pro (8 core) machine.
What do I need to run the adaptor on a Mac? A card?
Sounds like I am in for trouble as well, from the software end?
How do we get P2 cards to a Mac, please?
Thanks,Michael Erlewine

well if you're going to a desktop system its going to be a bit tougher to offload cards without using the camera. you can get the AJ-PCD20 P2 Drive which has usb and firewire connections and can hold 5 cards, http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc..._P2_Drive.html but its $1900.
if you still own your pc i'd recomend still using it for offloading the cards. get a nice fast 2.5" portable drive that has usb 2.0 and fw800 and format it fat 32 and just use that as your p2 drive. lacie makes those portable rugged drives that are pretty good.
i've heard few people have no problems with fcp version 6.0.2 but i've heard a looot of people have issues. it pretty much breaks the p2 import function.

A couple of ways to get p2 cards to a Mac?
1. Use the Firewire connect mode on your desktop;
2. Many use the USB connect mode, but it doesn't always work;
3. Use a MBP with the duel adapter and copy to the MPB, and then put it into the firewire target mode and copy to the desktop;
4. Copy the ingested cards from the MBP with a buspowered firewire or USB2 drive and then copy to the desktop.
5. Use a p2 store or other p2 reader (pricey)
In all cases, write protect the card before mounting it.
Specialized Communications is said to be developing a PCI-E card for a Mac, but haven't seen it.

I just upgraded my old PowerBook to a MBP with current versions of Leopard and QuickTime on it. Can anyone tell me whether the Duel Adaptor works with the current versions of QT, Leopard and FCP yet?
Thanks,
Kevin
