I was given 7 minidv tapes of 1080i 60i footage shot on a Sony Z1u. The cameraman was supposed to shoot 50i PAL but obviously screwed that up. Does anyone have any ideas on the best way to convert it? I will be using FCP and the final edit needs to have timecode on screen so I wasnt sure if editing first then converting will screw up the timecode or not. Any help is greatly appreciated. thanks

Edit in NTSC. When you're done editing use Nattress.com's standards convert to turn it into PAL. With HDV this will take a looong time but much longer if you were to try and do it tape by tape.

Thankyou very much. Do you have any idea of what this will do to my timecode in the end?

HI,
I agree edit NTSC and then convert it to PAL for FREE with JES Deinterlacer (findi it on Macupdate).
The second question could be solved depending on which TC you need to display:
- if it's the edited one no problem just set your timeline to 000000 - the difference is in frames but I don't think they need frames...
-if it's the original use a plugin to superimpose it to your edit.
Hope it can help
