Have been an avid DVXuser guest for a couple of months now while finalizing budget plans for purchase. Wanted to find out if anyone knows of any actual walk-in stores here in the LA area that have prices that will compare with online prices.

    any help would be appreciated...

I walked into Abel Cinestore (sp?) in Burbank and was able to see the DVX up close and personal. I bought the DVX100a on the spot. (I knew I would!) I've been lovin' it ever since!!!

VTP in Burbank sold me my DVX100 for $3169 in Feb '03. Not sure what their prices are on the 100A. Ask for Gary.

They have a few package deals that will really set you up to actually start using the cam right away. I got the one with two 5hr. batteries; the external condensor mic and a soft case. I'm not sure what just the cam would've cost, but they are an actual Panasonic dealer, so it's not going to be rock bottom pricing. What you are getting is a store that will stand behind the product and be there for you if something should go wrong. I was there today picking up the Pag C6 light for the cam. They were prepared to give me a loaner for the weekend if it didn't get here in time. Very cool!

The price they (VTP) quoted me (for the 100A) was lower than B and H. I figured tax would bump it up to more, but California has a production waiver for tax which knocks it down quite a bit. I didn't even know about this until I talked to someone at VTP. Total with tax is less and B and H with shipping, and I much prefer to buy from a local dealer.

I'd recommend giving them a call and asking them about the tax thing.
