    XHA1 - Microphone for Dialogue

I am using the XHA1 to film a feature, largely indoors. Can anyone recommend a brand and model of external boom microphone to use for capturing dialogue?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Read the stickies, but the general theory here for INDOOR dialogue is:

Low priced : Octava MC-012 hyper capsule

    Intermediate: Audio Technica 4053 hyper
AKG SE-300 body with CK-93 hyper capsule

    High: Schoeps hyper

The main thing to note: hyper for indoors - not shotgun. People here have their favorites, but most any $500 plus hypercardiod condensor mic would do the job. The cool thing about the Oktava is, for just over $200, it delivers similar sound quality with only a few drawbacks- sensitivity to handling and wind noise,
no low cut, etc. However, I just noticed one oktava dealer with a new model that includes a low cut
"module" for $279, solving one of the problems.

you can find much low cost good chinese brand ( check chiniz)
it already has 75/150 hz switch to reduce handling /wind noise
the low cut on octava don't worth to much as only reduce 3 db
about other mics you have at least 4-5 that will do it as schoeps but for much less .
about shotguns - there are some which actually act very good in reverb spaces ( in non reverb there is no any problem not to work with one)
cs-3 and schoeps cmit could work fine in 80-90 % of the situations

by the way better get 2 mics as s*%t happens and sometimes you need to make 2 person interview

Would you mind naming those mics? Are you referring to the schoeps shotgun or the shoeps hyper.
    thanks,
    Bernie

iam talking about recording dialog for films - not music with hypers or cards
    akg uls , mkh 50 or 40 geffel 210 , neuman 150with f 100peramp, (or with regular 100 ,neuman 185 , mbho603/604 with k500
for midrange you can add audix cxi with hyper .
i dont use cshoeps shotgun ( we have one in rentals) , i prefer the sanken for that matter
schoeps 541is agrate benefit for person who will be able upload 3-4 grands for extra gadgets as it is a very versatill (swivels , low voltage preamp to work directly with tx . cables ,) but not for poor people who only can make it for the mic it self

They're the yellow threads on top of the page.
