Be sure that's OK with him.

I hope you don't change too much; I liked the script as is.

Well, my director had some problems with it. Not so much "problems" per se, but he wanted some things tweaked. And he said in his thread that we're allowed to change it up. I dont want to change it up TO much because yes I agree, The story is fantastic!

Yep, that was the deal, the filmmaker has total control over every aspect of the story, script, dialog, and everything else.

Modifications are sometimes a creative choice, and sometimes it's necessary to get the film made. In Spying for Fun and Profit, there was a scene written set inside a restaurant where the character Robin goes in and uses his social engineering skills to scam some free food. But when director Carleton Torpin tried to acquire a suitable location, besides all the usual problems there are in getting someone to allow you to use their location, he was faced with an additional objection: none of the businesses he approached wanted to show themselves getting ripped off. So he contacted me with the problem and I rewrote the scene to be an out-of-store delivery, and it worked out great. Numerous other scripts I've written for dvxuser fests have been modified after they've left my hands, whether it was rewriten in the early stages of preproduction or if there were impromptu changes on the set.

Besides, my writing can use all the help it can get, so if the filmmaker has some good ideas, I'm glad to have them put in the movie.

Bottom line is: you've got to make the film your own.

    Regards,

    John
