Wondering if anyone is using a clamp on matte box that they recommend for the HPX500... just got mine today and would like to get a nice clamp on matte box... don't want to set up one with a rail etc. Any suggestions?

Freshdv.com has some vids with a few of the pricey models. We just got a Formatt FM-600 that is pretty rockin'. Under $500 and has a French flag, two stages, one rotating. Just add an 82mm adapter and you're golden. I'll be doing a podcast on it soon. It's a bargain in my book if you need to block stray light or use 4x4 or larger 4x5.6 filters. DV.com has the article here.

Been using the CaVision MB4510-H2 16:9 2-stage clamper. Only issue (but probably wouldn't be specific to this one) is that the flag is too big to fit into quickdraw case, and can't be quickly removed from matte box. BUT, the clamper goes on & off very fast, so I just toss it into another production bag for travel.

Petroff matteboxes are lighter than Chroiszel come in a variety of sizes and are made in Canada. I use the 5x5 mb on my 500; it clamps onto even the widest zoom lens w/o vignetting.

Good to know. I saw some pretty sweet Chrosziel set ups, but probably overkill if your only looking at using the standard zoom lenes.
