looking for some good sites or books to help me with color correcting my DVX footage. i know lighting is of upmost importance, but i've seen what a good colorist can do as well.
looking primarily at making color/gammas look more like you know...film. :

really like IAL's footage from "Soldier":

need some good places to start.

Here's a book on color-correcting that might help you out:

    Color Correction for Digital Video
    http://www.cmpbooks.com/product/1220?promo_code=DVW

Here's the "Practical Color Correction" tutorial DVD:
    http://www.intelligentassistance.com...orrection.html

And a link to where you can buy the "Color Correction for Final Cut Pro" DVD tutorial:
    http://www.digitalfilmtree.com/image...s/lafcpug.html

Also, check into the software filter/film-look packages offered by Magic Bullet (www.redgiantsoftware.com) and Digital Film Tools (www.digitalfilmtools.com), which contain a bunch of pre-set but fully customizable post-production color correction tools.

Magic Bullet recently introduced their film-look package as an FCP plug-in for $299 (versus their more comprehensive but more pricey Magic Bullet Suite AE plug-in, which runs $999). Check it out at: http://www.redgiantsoftware.com/magicbullet.html

For general color-correction, Synthetic Aperture's (www.synthetic-ap.com) Color Finesse is considered a better tool than FCP's built-in CC. Read a glowing review of it here: http://holstein.creativecow.net/arti..._marco/cf_rev/

    Hope this helps.

yes, promax sells outside the usa. you'd have to check if it's compatible in your region though. * talk to rene kropf at promax.
