Anyone know if the Sony XDCAM Ex uses the same battery type as the Sony HDV Z1? I'm looking into buying one XDCAM EX camera and I also have a couple of the batteries for the Z1. I wonder if I can use Z1 batteries on the XDCAM EX or do I have to buy a new set of batteries made only to use on the EX model.
My second question is, I've read somewhere that to record uncompress from the XDCAM EX camera, I have to use the HDSI output. Does anyone know if there is such a portable HDSI card for laptop? Or a laptop that has a HDSI input?
Many thanks in advance!

If I recall (I dont' have my notes here on hand) correctly, the EX1 uses a new type of battery. The Fujinon lens needs 12v, so a 7.2v Li-Ion battery wouldn't cut it.

Thanks for the quick response! Darn, I was hoping I don't have to buy new batteries. Anyone know the type and model that the EX1 uses so that I can check out the prices on that. Thanks again.

I *think* it's an entirely new type of battery.
