    Question
    Hi,

When I press "play" in the Composer window (or when I click on a clip from the bin), Avid XPress Pro runs the clip but the video doesn't move anywhere (sound works and bar moves, but I can only view that first/starting frame).

When I drag the bar along the timeline, I can see the video progress manually.

I checked my system resources and monitor settings: everything looks okay.

I also tried viewing from the Source window, but with the same result.

So then, why can't I see the movie play when I press "play"? What do I need to do to make it work? (The answers are probably incredibly simple.)

I'm a brand new user and have worked my way through a whole host of problems, but I can't seem to figure this one out. I'd appreciate any help.

    Thanks!

This is likely caused by your graphics card. I'd go and search Avid.com for the correct driver version that Avid needs and make sure you have those installed.

I've also seen this problem if you have another video program open at the same time as Avid. Windows Media Player, Quicktime, etc.

    Thanks, krestofre.

It works! While I had closed out Windows Media Player before trying to view the clip in Avid, the system must have had some threads still running.

Today, it works as though there'd never been any trouble. I guess that's a good thing. Now that I know that my system is all good to go, I'm going to take my first Avid class! ;-)

Thank you, again, for your helpful advice!!!
