    Workflow Issues

Some workflow issues Im having, interested to see if anyone else is having these as well.

    1. No Firewire output in Native mode. This is a pain because 720pn is the main format we shoot in, so I cant input directly into my MacBook in the field or the studio. Have to switch to 720p. The Manual says this as well, so I guess I hope they can fix it with a firmware upgrade in the future.

    2. Sometimes some clips will not playback in preview mode on the camera. Clips copy and playback fine once ingested though - weird!

    3. CMS has trouble playing back clips via the camera when its connected via Firewire, actually have to ingest clips to solve playback problem. Im assuming this is either a Firewire datarate issue or a problem with the camera. Once again, no problem once clips are ingested.

    4. Mulitple jobs on 1 P2 card cant be "viewed and copied seperately" without using CMS (or can they???) This I think is a byproduct of Apple not supporting MXF and MXF previews.

I actually *dont* want to use CMS, I want to open up finder, look at files and preview them, delete the ones I dont want, and copy the ones i do want to job folders on my data drive (just like I can with any other file). Simple you would think? well it seems not.

1 - there is no provision in the firewire spec for 24 frames per second which is why this is the case. It likely will never be an update in the future. You can shoot non-native and use an app like dvrack that only writes the 24 frames

2- You can only playback clips that are the same mode as what the camera is presently set in - other clips wont playback and i think are shown in red or orange

    3 - prob same issue as 2

    4 - ???

to your last point - NEVER delete clips on the p2 cards using the laptop - especially mac - there are issues with corrupting the card - copy the clips to the laptop - delete what you dont want and then format card in camera only to avoid potential issues

1 - We are shooting 25 FPS, I guess the same applies

    2 - That sucks

    3 - Same as 2

    4 - That sucks
