All right folks I think I found the cheapest (legit) way of getting a DVX100A. I just purchased one and will be getting it for under $3150.00. Here's what you do:
1. Get a free geocities.com website.
2. Join Amazon.com Associates program and choose the Performance Fee Structure.
3. Build a link through Amazon for any product you wish to buy--this case the DVX100A--and put it on your free webpage.
4. Go to your webpage, click the link and then buy the camera. Amazon gives you 7.5% back for your referral.
5. For extra savings buy it with an Amazon.com Visa which gives you points for all your Amazon.com and other purchases. This purchase should give me about $100 in gift certificates.
Make sure to check the latest price for these items before buying. Right now the camera might be a bit higher, but I bought it when it was at $3399.
That's the scoop. It's legal, legit and even encouraged. Save some $$ and get the tools. Happy shopping & shooting.

Very clever. A bit of work for a few hundred bucks! But don't lose those savings by using a visa card and incurring lots of interst charges :o. Pay cash or pay off your visa balance in full 8)

Really only takes about 15 minutes. Since I don't make $100 an hour it's well worth it. And yes pay off that card. I was assuming that for myself since I won't allow myself these types of purchases on credit. Too much guilt.

Doesn't seem like a good deal at the moment. Unless I've misread their site, you would have to sell over 10,000 items to get a rate higher than 7.25%. The rate for 20 or less items sold is 5%. The DVX is currently $3714.95 at Amazon. Using their referrel system you would get the camera for $3529.20. Not a very hot deal. If the price drops, then it might be worth it, but it would have to drop substantially.

J&R use Amazon but only keep a couple in stock. Check back every few days and I bet it'll be back down there.
As for the referral fee, if you use a direct link, then you get the extra 2.5%.
I'm just letting you know what I got it for, do what you like.

Would a DVX from Amazon be a warrantied USA camera? Are they an authorized dealer?

Depends who is selling through them. I'd imagine stores like Office Depot is, and I know J&R is. I called J&R to double check since that is where mine is coming from.
